GSK physician survey finds lupus patients at increased risk for organ damage
Lupus patients are more than ever at risk for organ damage, a new GSK survey finds, thanks in part to the Covid-19 pandemic pushing off diagnoses and treatment. However, ongoing miscommunications between doctors and patients — present long before the pandemic — are also contributing to the problem.
Almost two-thirds (65%) of healthcare professionals said they wait a year or more before discussing the potential for organ damage after a patient’s initial systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) diagnosis.
