Louisiana AG sues Unit­ed­Health Group sub­sidiaries over fraud al­le­ga­tions in drug pric­ing case

Louisiana At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Jeff Landry is su­ing Unit­ed­Health Group’s Op­tum­Rx and Unit­ed­Health­care busi­ness­es, al­leg­ing the phar­ma­cy ben­e­fit man­ag­er and in­sur­er over­charged the state’s Med­ic­aid de­part­ment by bil­lions of dol­lars every year through in­flat­ed pre­scrip­tion drug prices.

The suit, filed ear­li­er this month in a state court, al­leges that the two busi­ness­es ex­ploit­ed se­cre­cy sur­round­ing the re­al prices for pre­scrip­tion drugs — and that ex­ploita­tion forced in­sur­ers to pay bil­lions of dol­lars more per year than they oth­er­wise would. Op­tum­Rx is one of the top 3 largest PBMs, or phar­ma­cy ben­e­fit man­agers, akin to phar­ma mid­dle­men. The suit added:
