MIT’s star tech gu­ru Joi Ito re­signs biotech chair post in wake of Jef­frey Ep­stein scan­dal

Af­ter ev­i­dence emerged over the last few days that MIT Me­dia Lab’s rock star leader Joi Ito had been in the habit of so­lic­it­ing cash for his re­search group as well as his own in­vest­ment funds from no­to­ri­ous Jef­frey Ep­stein — af­ter the fi­nancier had been jailed for his con­vic­tion on sex­u­al­ly abus­ing young girls — it didn’t take long be­fore Ito quick­ly re­signed from the post. And hours lat­er came news that Ito was al­so bow­ing out as chair­man of PureTech, a Boston-based biotech with a yen for high-pro­file board mem­bers.
