New York AG accuses Teva of lying over opioid crisis to evade legal action
New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday accused Israel-based Teva Pharmaceuticals of lying about how it controlled its American subsidiary and related opioid sales, saying the parent company made “significant and intentional” misrepresentations.
In a filing with the Supreme Court of the State of New York, James is requesting a hearing and an opportunity to figure out the full extent of the parent company’s misrepresentations. The move comes as Teva may end up settling thousands of lawsuits for billions of dollars, over allegations that its drugs played a role in the opioid epidemic and that Teva downplayed the risks of opioid addiction.
