No­vo Nordisk set to boost We­govy sup­plies with sec­ond man­u­fac­tur­er ready, and a third get­ting clos­er

No­vo Nordisk said a sec­ond man­u­fac­tur­er is now ready to be­gin pro­duc­tion for its in-de­mand weight loss drug We­govy, with a third site on the way lat­er this year. The new con­tract­ed man­u­fac­tur­er is ex­pect­ed “to help in­crease We­govy sup­ply ca­pac­i­ty,” a No­vo spokesper­son said via email.

Cur­rent­ly, No­vo con­tin­ues to have lim­it­ed quan­ti­ties of starter and low­er dos­es of 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg of We­govy (semaglu­tide) avail­able for whole­salers who dis­trib­ute to re­tail phar­ma­cies, and No­vo has warned pre­vi­ous­ly that peo­ple will like­ly have dif­fi­cul­ty fill­ing those pre­scrip­tions through Sep­tem­ber. It does have high­er dos­es of 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg avail­able.
