Preprint mandate? BioRxiv and medRxiv founders call on White House to ensure early access to government-funded research
After the White House launched an ambitious plan last summer to make all taxpayer-funded medical research more accessible to the public, new ideas are beginning to sprout on how to actually achieve such a goal.
In a letter to the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) released Tuesday, the founders of the now commonly used preprint servers bioRxiv and medRxiv are calling on the federal government to ensure that all federally funded research is made available as preprints on its servers, prior to their submission for publication in a journal.
